Waters of my life

Rivers flowing to the sea

the spring in me

the sparkling delight

of sun immersed in water

tonight

One day rich sludge

stuck in the mud

the rust of the high tide

containments line the shores

On the other side

flip-side

midnight dips

in phosphorescent light

When we learn to respect the tide

A vision of how it could be

living in the city

A manta ray swimming next to me

through the fog

and the mist

of the harbour

Mourning vision

A penguin on the rocks

declaring safe charter

A marine sanctuary

right there

over here

Clear as day

the mussels clinging to the rocks

seaweed swinging

arcs bright

Deforestation

Tearful

the water bites

at my eyes

tree

after

tree

after tree

falling

broken

pushed

collasped against each other

shoved

slipping

forced

stacked on the

sliding hill

shredded

eroded

Where is the groundswell

the earth turning to dust

before our eyes

in our hands

in front of our hearts

beneath our feet.

CLEARFELLING

“don’t worry

we are making room

for more”

and more

its in our hands

Oh it’s in our hands

Last night

I couldn’t sleep

after

I sat down next to

my Grandmothers

bejeweled tears.

I wondered if you liked

I read to you

Sometimes

Verse 4.

Instructions for living a life:

Pay Attention.

Be Astonished.

Tell about it.

[between the lines]

Time will tell

we are growing poison around here

it comes in 24L packs

but wait there’s more

fellow students told me you could drink it

around here

we’re growing poison

liberal dousing

sauteed and sprinkled

our food with it

doesnt say on

doesn’t fit on the Label

to say

your strawberries

come with hydrogen fungicide

summers fun fruit

[around here

we are growing poison]

the land looks the colour

colors of sand

we fly overhead

dowsing workers, weeds, woman and

children

no worries mate

safe enough to drink

[around here we are growing poison]

around here we are growing poison

would you like glyphosate with that?

glyphosate with lettuce, potatoes, berry fruit. kiwifruit

[around here we are growing poison]

we’ve done it for generations mate

tomatoes, celery, eggplant,

round up ready

Ready steady

ready steady

[around here we are growing poison]

pale beige clay

[we are growing poison around here]

everythings palatable

as long as you add sugar, flavour enhancer, colouring, wax, hormones, antibiotics, aspartame, fructose, lactose, dextrose, nitrates, sulphates. [we are growing poison around here]

ataata/scar tissue #16

i am clenching my jaw
Clenchingmyjaw
holding on too tight
like a dog gnawing at its chain
Ropes
fibers straining
Aching to let go
Tension cables

Popping

The inner yell
is quiet
A terrible wail
Echoing through
time and space

suffocated
Throttled
Choking for dear life
Strangled
Gargling noises

On the edge of consciousness
My breathe shallow
Holding it all in
Is it okay to
breathe now is it safe

To trust
this moment to let go
Free-falling
Through space and time

Sound and Vision
Can I make it to the other side
past all these torn up doubts

Dried up tears
the crystalline river bed
of existence

Will I extinguish
my anguish now
and breathe again

a candle

there is a candle within

you and I are both that

candle

Tell me

can you feel the warmth

the soft flicker

what lights that candle of ours

yellow distant sun

indigo pulse of insight

the charred wick

the hot ember of fires red

holy night

midnight hour

dark black

red

orange

violet

white

there is candle within

pools of reflective wax

golden shimmer

divine energy

it flickers

there is a candle within

March

Walking here, now you are twelve.

Walking here

on the Earths crust

you are made of stardust

Doors now open and close

each day as you change your clothes

Enough time to ponder

One filled with wonder

Wither we wander near and far

Ever close to home and the boundless star

Earth is the lovely treasure we have found

as we gaze ever starward bound

A reminder of your divinity

the holy trinity

Ever hopeful and full of joy

Nestled here in the harbour; a buoy

Now you are twelve

Insights unfurl and delve

coalescing fluid fractals

Sometimes whimsical, at times factual.

On the cusp of puberty

exploring what gives you liberty

with stories sure to amaze

life is all ablaze

Leap around the ballroom

learning how to zoom

as you boom and zap

Frolicking, tumble, bow, and tap

As you peek through the door ajar

You are filled with a most magnificent substance-

the glittering star.
